What is really in your bottled water? Consumer reports found toxic PFAS chemicals in several water brands. This is no surprise and consistent with our research in the video above where we outline the risks in standard water filtration techniques as well as buying bottled water from a plurality of sources. While it is a little known fact, water supply sources are required to state their water quality level to their customers each year. If you took the time to read it in some obscure place on your local water authority website, you would think deeply about the video above and take a simple step to reduce the toxic build up of chemicals and metals in your body from our water supply sources.
First, what are PFAS Chemicals?
PFAS are a synthetic class of chemicals that include perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS). They have been used for industrial purposes in the US since the 1940s. Even though their manufacture has been phased out in the US, they are still present in many imported products. We also know that they remain in the body for a long time (they have a half-life of approximately 4 years). If you ever saw the movie Dark Waters, you saw what a massive infusion of PFAS, specifically PFOA, did to a community of unsuspecting people.
One US Institute of Health study (PFOA and Cancer in a Highly Exposed Community: New Findings from the C8 Science Panel) found that there is a “more probable than not” association between PFOA and 6 ailments: kidney cancer, testicular cancer, ulcerative colitis, thyroid disease, hypercholesterolemia, and pregnancy-induced hypertension.

What are recommended PFAS limits?
The International Bottled Water Association, another group, says that it supports federal limits for PFAS and that bottled water should have PFAS levels below 5 ppt for any single compound and 10 ppt for more than one. Some experts say the cutoff for total PFAS levels should be even lower, 1 ppt.
What is the only way to purify your water?
Think of water purification in the most simple Foodie Body and Agua Body “First Principles”. Contaminants in water are microscopic, there is no such thing as a “reverse osmosis” membrane that can stop contaminants from entering your drinking water. Spoiler for any water filtration company, it does not work and this is proven in any lab study. Interestingly, the boiling point of these chemicals such as Arsenic or Thallium among many are materially higher than H2O. Accordingly, just think simply, distillation boils the water H2O which boils at 212 F+ vs. a heavy metal at 1000 F+. The metals are “left behind” and the H2O separates into a pure form. This is why a doctor uses H2O in the operating room (distilled water is the only pure water). Why most doctors don’t recommend drinking H2O is a question for them to answer. The only rebuttal against distilled water is that the process eliminates even the “good” minerals. While it is true distillation eliminates even good minerals, you will get all the minerals you need and more from a standard plant based diet. So keep your water pure with distilled water and eat your vegetables.
